After-School Program

Teaching at the Right Level Pilot (Flagship Program)

We are piloting the *Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL)* methodology in Kano State with support from the *D-Prize grant. This pilot will reach **350 students* across selected schools. The program runs as an after-school model, four days a week for three months. Children are assessed and grouped by learning level, and facilitators use interactive methods to help them catch up academically. By the end of the pilot, we expect participating students to achieve the equivalent of *one year of learning progress in just three months

Community Engagement and Parent Partnerships

Through active community engagement, we have secured partnerships and funding support from parents. This collaboration will allow us to extend the pilot to additional schools and reach *over 1,000 students*. This approach demonstrates our commitment to shifting ownership and responsibility to the community, ensuring sustainability and broader impact.

Our Approach

Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL): We assess students using simple tools and group them based on actual learning level—not age or grade. Instruction is tailored to each group's needs, using engaging and playful methods.

Language Learning from Familiar to Formal (L2F2): We begin with the mother tongue to teach literacy before transitioning to English. This method builds comprehension by connecting learning to language that children understand.
